چکیده
International space agencies are aiming to establish permanent outposts on the lunar surface. For that purpose, new technologies and equipment being developed which will enable augment these mission goals. To increase duration of a long-term planetary expand capabilities, ability manufacture transparent glass in-situ could be an important enabler Results presented in this work show it is feasible use different regolith simulants optically by magnetically beneficiating prior processing. Beneficiated simulant was melted, cast into nuggets were then ground, lapped polished slides 1 mm thickness. The slides’ surface roughness geometry measured, optical analysis, showed average transmission about 80% light wavelength range from 250 1250 nm. A comparable reference sample performed only 9% (absolute) better average. From results, seems viable actual as well; however, differences still need fully explored—regolith may available unlimited quantities therefore open up strategic possibilities.

We present a fully functional material extrusion printer for optically transparent glass. The printer is comprised of scalable modular elements, able to operate at the high temperatures required to process glass from a molten state to an annealed product. We demonstrate a process enabling the construction of 3D parts as described by Computer Aided Design (CAD) models. Processing parameters such...
متن کاملScientific and Resource Characterization of Lunar Regolith Using Dielectric
Introduction: Water ice and ilmenite both have unique dielectric responses that can be used to detect their concentration as a function of depth, noninvasively from the lunar surface. Electrical measurements at the surface can also be used to determine the density of the lunar regolith. Subsurface water ice may exist in permanently shadowed regions near the poles of the Moon [1-6]. The presence...
